Established in 1992, the « GTE » aims at setting a transportation policy based on the needs of the Geneva economy.

In regular contact with the governing bodies of the canton, the “GTE” defends a clear traffic concept in order to the facilitate the mobility of the Geneva inhabitants, whatever be their means of transport.

The “GTE” has the following major goals:

• maintaining easy access to the downtown area
• traffic safety
• a clear hierarchy in the road network



• the completing of the ring road around Geneva
• establishment of a transport link across the lake
• increasing the number of parking places



• improvement of the public transportation network
• reduction of disturbances caused by traffic
